1 Quick Start Guide

Step 1: Install Vespo

Install Vespo from the Shopify App Store. Click "Add app" and authorize the required permissions. Vespo only needs read access to your products.

Step 2: Index Your Products

After installation, you'll see the Vespo dashboard. Click "Start Indexing" to scan your product catalog. This typically takes 1-5 minutes depending on your catalog size.

What happens during indexing?
Vespo reads your products, variants, descriptions, tags, and images to build an AI-powered search index. Your products are automatically synced when you add, update, or remove items.

Step 3: Enable Search Widget

Once indexing is complete, toggle "Enable Search" in your dashboard. The search widget will appear on your storefront immediately.

That's it! Your customers can now search using natural language like "blue dress for a summer wedding" or "gift for dad under $50".

2 How Vespo Search Works

Vespo uses AI to understand what your customers are looking for, even when they don't use exact product names or keywords.

Natural Language Understanding

Traditional search matches keywords. Vespo understands intent. When a customer types:

  • "comfortable shoes for standing all day" - Finds shoes with cushioning, arch support, comfort features
  • "gift for my mom who loves gardening" - Finds gardening tools, plant accessories, garden decor
  • "something warm for winter under $100" - Finds jackets, sweaters, blankets within budget

3 Customization Options

Search Widget Position

The floating search button appears in the bottom-right corner of your store by default. When clicked, it opens a full-screen search overlay optimized for both desktop and mobile.

Prompt Suggestions

From your admin panel, you can customize the search suggestions shown to customers. These help guide users on what types of searches work well with your catalog.

Overage Pricing (Growth Plan)

5 Frequently Asked Questions

Will Vespo slow down my store?

No. Vespo loads asynchronously and doesn't affect your page load speed. The search widget only activates when customers click it.

Does it work with my theme?

Yes. Vespo works with any Shopify theme. It appears as a floating overlay, so no theme modifications are needed.

How do I update my product index?

Vespo automatically syncs when you add, update, or remove products in Shopify. No manual action required. You can also trigger a full re-index from the dashboard.

What data does Vespo access?

Vespo only accesses your product catalog (titles, descriptions, prices, images, variants). We don't access customer data, orders, or any other store information.

What happens if I uninstall Vespo?

All your data is deleted within 30 days of uninstallation. The search widget will be removed from your storefront immediately.

Can I try before committing to a paid plan?

6 Troubleshooting

Search widget not appearing?

  • 1. Make sure "Enable Search" is toggled ON in your Vespo dashboard
  • 2. Check that product indexing has completed
  • 3. Try clearing your browser cache or testing in incognito mode
  • 4. Ensure your theme doesn't have conflicting scripts

Products not showing in search results?

  • 1. Make sure products are published and visible on your storefront
  • 2. Try re-indexing from the dashboard
  • 3. Check that products have titles and descriptions
  • 4. Wait a few minutes after adding new products for sync to complete

Indexing stuck or failed?

  • 1. For large catalogs (5000+ products), indexing may take up to 15 minutes
  • 2. Try clicking "Re-index" to start fresh
